The Aftermath of a Successful Jumble Sale!

There hasn't been a jumble sale in Llantwit for, many years. Would people come? Would we have enough jumble and bric-a-brac? Enough cakes?

The day dawned bright and early and it was obvious that we had enough jumble. Tables were piled high, bric-a-brac sorted, and numerous helpers,  including students from Atlantic College,  donned money aprons  and stood ready. A few people queued, remembering times of old,  and at 11am were let in. The flow was gentle, but steady, and the kitchen was soon busy serving cakes and hot drinks. A number of people commented on the lovely atmosphere.

At 2.00pm we closed the doors and set to clearing up. We filled the van, swept and tidied, and were gone! What a day it had been, a day that wouldn't have been possible without all the people who gave their time and energy to help, or turned out their houses for us, or in one case their shop.

We sat down with a cup of tea and started  to count the money. People have been so generous in their desire to support us as we get closer to being able to offer a home, a new life, to a family who have endured and lost so much!

A huge thank you to everyone who has been a part of this: those who gave jumble and bric-a-brac,  those who helped with transport and selling, the ladies in the kitchen, the cake makers, those who helped with publicity, both printed and electronic. The list goes on!

Get on with it I can hear you say, how much did we raise? Well, the figure is not a final one as we still have some things we are selling on, but at this point in time it is just around £940!
We were given items too good for jumble sale prices so we will be holding another auction, with a gift stall  coffee and cakes, on Saturday 30th November. More details next month!
